In this retreat we work with the archetype of the Goddess as virgin, mother, and crone in order to support us in balancing and embodying the qualities of each of these aspects of our feminine nature. Journaling and movement are used to support us in our intention. For those interested, Sufi practices may be also be included zikr and wazaif.
In recent years a candle has been added to the Universal Worship to honor
the tradition of the Great Goddess and the Re-emerging Feminine in our time.
During this retreat or workshop, we take this as our theme. What is the tradition
of the Goddess? Why is it important to us at this time? What is the ‘Re-emerging
Feminine? We will work with Sufi practices such as zikr and wazaif as well
as movement, and other contemporary practices to answer these questions and
help us to connect with the deep feminine soul and find support for its and
our emergence into our daily lives and the world today. This is offered in
either retreat or workshop format.
The Handless Maiden is a fairy tale of a woman who loses and regains her hands. It recounts one woman’s archetypal journey from helplessness and dependency to full creative empowerment! Perhaps her story is also your story! During this workshop, we will tell the story, work with Sufi practices such as wazaif and zikr, as well as journaling and movement. In some situations, if time allows, we will make and decorate plaster casts of each other’s hands, and use the casts in ritual. In this way, we will take significant steps on our own journey to empowerment!
Taking the Sufi mystic Ibn’Arabi’s teaching as our foundation, we will explore ways to bring make these teachings a reality in our lives. Contact Dakini for more information.
Hazrat Inayat Khan has been quoted as saying that the “Goal of the path to be natural.” and “The best way of living is to live a natural life.” In this event, we will explore what is natural for each of us and take steps toward finding our way to be natural and live a natural life in our current cultural conditions, be natural and live a natural life.
